Xinhua News Agency (202.84.17.11/en/main.htm) (07/09/03)

Nigeria’s Partnership for the Reinforcement of Immunization Efficiency’s

(PRIME) polio immunization program has received nearly $50 million from the European Commission (EC) that will aid routine immunizations against polio in the country.  The program, which the EC is funding over the course of five years, is intended to provide support to national routine immunization

programs in Nigeria’s six states.   “At this initial stage, five local

government areas (LGAs) per state will be targeted,” the EC said in a statement, “but by the end of 2007, it is expected that all LGAs in each state will be included in the PRIME program.”
