“Cameroon: Doctors to Hunt for Patients to Vaccinate”

Africa News Service (www.allafrica.com) (07/03/03)

The Reach Every District (RED) approach to immunization in Cameroon, which

emphasizes focusing on the different districts in the country, is an

attempt to increase the immunization coverage rate from 60 percent.

Participants in a recent workshop explained problems hindering immunization

specific to each district, such as bad roads, no equipment, lack of

transportation facilities, and communication lapses.  Healthcare workers in

each district in Cameroon will concentrate this year on increasing routine

vaccination coverage with supplementary vaccination against poliomyelitis

and maternal and neonatal tetanus.
