Smallpox Vaccines Off to Slow Start

Officials in Florida report that so far fewer than 300 paramedics, firefighters, and police officers in the state have been vaccinated against smallpox. The shots, which have been available in Florida for over a month, will be offered to first responders for another six to nine months. Nationwide, approximately 38,000 first responders have been vaccinated against smallpox.
