"Smallpox Tender Rivals Crying Foul"

The British government will give a new smallpox vaccine contract to either Aventis Pasteur, RIVM, GlaxoSmithKline, PowderJect Pharmaceuticals, or Acambis. The bidders feel that PowderJect is bound to win because of the monetary contributions CEO Paul Drayson has made to the nation's ruling Labour party. In addition, the fact that PowderJect is already fulfilling an earlier government contract means that the firm will be able to offer lower prices.
