"Seven Million Angolan Children to Be
Vaccinated Against Measles" Xinhua News Agency (202.84.17.11/en/main.htm)
(01/20/03)
The Enlarged Vaccination Program (PAV) of
Angola announced earlier this week that 7 million children between the ages of
nine months and 15 years will be vaccinated against measles this spring. The
disease takes the lives of over 7,000 Angolan children every year, and PAV hopes
to reduce that figure by at least 75 percent. As part of the campaign, 3
million children between the ages of nine months and five years will also
receive vitamin A, PAV said.
