"Pfizer Pulls Out of Hepatitis-B Vaccine"

Due possibly to falling margins and increased competition in the hepatitis B vaccine market, Pfizer India has withdrawn its hepatitis B vaccine Hepashield from the market. Meanwhile, a hepatitis B vaccine from Ranbaxy and Aventis is currently on hold. Sales of Hepashield in India fell by almost 50 percent by August 2002 with further drops likely for the drug, according to IMS, the industry review firm.
