"Kenya: Hepatitis Outbreak in Eldoret Prisons" Africa News Service (www.allafrica.com) (01/10/03)
Two prisons in Eldoret, Kenya, are dealing with an outbreak of hepatitis. Tests of blood samples taken from 84 prisoners indicate that seven have been diagnosed with hepatitis B, while three others have tested positive for hepatitis C. A senior public health official asserts that a vaccination program that includes inmates, prison workers, and inmate relatives is needed at the two prisons to stop the spread of hepatitis B.
