In Jan 22 NEW YORK story headlined, "VaxGen says no data available on HIV
vaccine trial," please read in first paragraph, "it will announce the
results of the trial before the end of the March,"...instead of..."it will
not know the results of the trial until the end of March."
A corrected version follows. NEW YORK, Jan 22 (Reuters) - VaxGen Inc. (NasdaqNM:VXGN - News), whose stock price tumbled on Wednesday amid speculation that a late-stage trial of its HIV drug had proven disappointing, said it will announce the results of the trial before the end of the March. The Brisbane, California-based company said it does not yet know the outcome of the trial and will not know until it completes its analysis of the data. VaxGen's shares fell $2.00, or 10 percent, to $17.65, in late Wednesday afternoon trading on Nasdaq amid concern the data could be negative. "A rumor reported on the Internet today indicated that the company's stock had fallen because the Phase III trial had produced unfavorable results," VaxGen said in a statement. "Once again, no data are available yet to conclude if or how effective the vaccine is."
