"Avant Wins Contract for Oral Vaccine for
Anthrax and Plague" New York Times (www.nytimes.com)
(01/22/03) P. C12; Pollack, Andrew
Avant Immunotherapeutics received a
contract from the Defense Department's DynPort Vaccine, the primary contractor
for development of vaccines against possible biowarfare agents, that involves
the creation of a combination vaccine against anthrax and plague. The vaccine
would only require one oral dose, rather than multiple injections over a period
of time. The contract, worth $2.8 million initially and up to $8 million over
the next two years, will be completed by Avant in up to 10 years.
