THE SMALLPOX-VACCINE PLEDGE IN FULL

FEBRUARY 12. Here is further evidence that the mass smallpox vaccine campaign is running into serious opposition. This is called THE HEALTH WORKER’S PLEDGE:

“As a health worker, my responsibility is to prevent disease, treat illness and promote health. My obligation is to help, and above all, do no harm.

“Smallpox vaccination has known and potentially serious side effects. In the absence of any evidence of exposure or risk of exposure to smallpox virus, it’s unethical and a threat to my health and the health of the patients and public that I serve to administer unnecessary vaccine.

“Military personnel are unfairly being forced to get the vaccine and this should be stopped. As a health worker I am being given a choice, and I choose NO!

“I will not be pressured to risk my health and the health of patients. I will not participate in a campaign that’s against the best interests of the public I serve. I hereby pledge that, in the absence of the evidence of exposure, I will not get and will not give smallpox vaccinations.”

Okay, so it’s not perfect, but it’s pretty damn good, when you take into account that this pledge is coming from seiu.org and the Service Employees International Union, which is a very large organization under the umbrella of the AFL/CIO.

That’s right.

This is an actual pledge to be signed and sent in by members of that union.

As far as it goes, the language is very strong---particularly the invocation of the Hippocratic Oath. “First, do no harm.”

I can see why the controlled press has been trying to downplay the union opposition to the vaccine and why the pledge itself has not been widely reproduced in articles. It stimulates too many red flags and warning lights.

But there it is. So, if you have friends who are still covering their eyes and claiming the vaccine is wonderful and safe and just the thing for all patriotic Americans, send them the Pledge and let them discover at least a piece of the truth.

Meanwhile...on the war propaganda front, Colin Powell is saying that he had previewed a new tape from bin Laden that has just been broadcast today on Al-Jazeera TV. Powell claims that bin Laden not only expresses his solidarity with Iraq but mentions some kind of partnership between himself and Iraq. (Early stories on this tape do not confirm a partnership.) Did they get a graduate student to imitate bin Laden for this dog and pony? Why don't they just publish a photo of Osama handing Saddam a suitcase full of money as Saddam gives Osama a pocket nuke? Get it over with.
