| Safer vaccines
With reference to Fraser Nelson’s series of articles
on DTP vaccination, Scotland’s flawed vaccination programme not only
legislates against the poor and uninformed, but may be a continuing danger
to every child born here.
Thiomersal, which has been associated with the worldwide epidemic of autism, was removed from childhood vaccines in Australia, the United States, Japan, South Korea, etc, as a precaution. In fact, everywhere this issue has been raised, it has been speedily removed. Unfortunately, it will continue to be administered here in the DTP vaccine, unless parents argue for the safer mercury-free version. The fact that there is a safer, more expensive vaccine, will not be advertised to parents; so much for informed choice. This follows the debate on the controversial MMR vaccine, where the result has been that parents with funds can access single vaccines privately. We now have a two-tier vaccination programme. Who is re-sponsible? First, politicians who do not challenge the arrogant medical hierarchy. Secondly, the same medical hierarchy who live in "Neverland": never apologise, never explain, and, most of all, never incriminate yourself. The result is we have more children with mild to severe neurological problems than ever in our history. BILL WELSH Chairman, Action Against Autism Greenhill Avenue Glasgow |
