"Bush Pushes Vaccine Plan for Bioterror"
Atlanta Journal-Constitution (www.accessatlanta.com/ajc) (02/04/03) P. 3A; Moscoso, Eunice
President Bush's 10-year, $6 billion Project BioShield increases funding to allow stockpiles of vaccines and the ability to bypass the FDA's drug certification process during an emergency. Bush believes the plan will allow more effective research into vaccines against Ebola, plague, botulism toxin, anthrax, and smallpox, which are all thought to be potential bioterrorism weapons. Bush, speaking at the National Institutes of Health, asserts that the plan will also help in the development of other treatments as well as benefit people in developing nations.
