Burton To Chair
Subcommittee On Human Rights and Wellness
Washington, D.C. - At today's organizational
meeting of the Government Reform Committee, Representative Dan Burton
(R-IN-5), was named Chairman of the newly created Subcommittee on Human Rights
and Wellness for the 108th Congress.
Said Burton, "I am looking forward to chairing
the new Subcommittee on Human Rights and Wellness. I will continue to press
forward on issues that are very important to American families."
The Subcommittee will have jurisdiction over
public health policy, education, human rights issues and policies affecting
families and children. Chairman Burton will continue his efforts to promote
more research into autism, improve the safety of vaccines and reform the
federal program that compensates victims of vaccine injuries. Additionally,
Burton will continue to:

Press for the return of American children
kidnapped to Saudi Arabia and other countries
§
Conduct oversight of FBI corruption in
organized crime investigations
§
Seek greater respect for human rights
around the world
§
Focus on the administration's Healthier
U.S. Initiative - improving health through diet and lifestyle
