"Premier Gets Flu Jab to Encourage Others to Do the Same"
Australian Associated Press (AAP) (aap.com.au) (04/22/03)
In order to encourage more South Australians to get immunized against influenza this winter, Premier Mike Rann got a flu vaccination from his Science and Information Technology Minister Jane Lomax-Smith. Lomax-Smith also vaccinated Health Minister Lea Stevens against the illness. An A$26 million federal program in Australia is providing the country's senior population, those over the age of 65 years, with free flu vaccination, because 90 percent of flu-related deaths in the country occur in people over the age of 65 years.
