About one million children from nine months to 15 years of
age will be vaccinated against measles in the Angolan central coastal Benguela
Province during the national campaign being executed countrywide from April 21
to May 19.
Of the above total, about 300,000 will be vaccinated in
the port city of Lobito, said the local public health adviser, Francisco Manuel,
who confirmed that 400,000 vaccines doses are available for Lobito's campaign
which is to involve as many as 900 specialists.
According to the source, at least three cars will be
working for the Mass Vaccination Programme (Pav), during the three phases of the
campaign, which will also reach areas formerly considered as of difficult
access.
Simultaneous to the vaccination work, children will also
receive vitamin A in order to prevent them from going blind.
