"Sebelius Seeks to Heighten Immunization Awareness"
Associated Press (www.ap.org) (04/15/03)
In an attempt to increase the vaccination rate in Kansas for children under the age of two, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has designated this week as "Infant Immunization Awareness Week." The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports that the state's vaccination rate for two-year-olds is about 71 percent; the national average is 73 percent for toddlers. Kansas health officials are aiming for 90 percent coverage for two-year-olds in the state.
