United Press International (www.upi.com) (04/16/03); Suh, Christine
National Infant Immunization Week is an opportunity for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health departments to encourage parents to get children ages two and younger vaccinated against 11 diseases. Over 20 percent of two-year-olds have not been immunized against at least one of them. According to government researchers, 72 percent of African American children are vaccinated, while the rates for Hispanic children have improved to 78 percent vaccinated.
