"New Virus Confirmed as Source of SARS"
Associated Press (www.ap.org) (04/16/03); Ross, Emma
The World Health Organization announced Wednesday that Dutch scientists have confirmed that the coronavirus causes severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS. Researchers from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands, fulfilled four scientific tests known as Koch's postulates to definitively say that a new form of coronavirus is the sources of SARS. In addition, researchers at the University of Hong Kong reported that a new genetic sequencing of the virus shows conclusively that it originated in animals.
