"Smallpox Vaccinations Resume in New York"
Contra Costa Times (www.contracosta.com) (04/10/03) P. F4; Ricks, Delthia
Joining California, New York State will resume its smallpox vaccination program following a two-week pause following reports of heart problems among some recipients of the vaccine. Three recipients died from heart attacks, and while the investigation into their deaths is ongoing, federal health officials have not linked the deaths to the smallpox vaccination. New York was the first state to postpone its smallpox vaccination program after the deaths; 12 states have yet to restart their smallpox programs.
