U.S. IMMUNIZATION NEWS
"Baltimore Tops National Infant Immunization Rate"
Associated Press (www.ap.org) (04/10/03)
Baltimore's Health Commissioner, Dr. Peter Beilenson, reported this week that 80 percent of preschoolers in the city have been fully immunized. The national rate of immunization for preschoolers is 78 percent. In addition, Beilenson said, the city has recorded a 99.85 percent immunization rate for the 4:3:1 series of shots, covering the diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines. The commissioner did note, however, that some children still have not been fully vaccinated, and he called on parents to check to make sure their children's shots are up-to-date.
