"Japan Assists RP in Mass Vaccination for 21m Kids"

Business World (Philippines) (bworld.com.ph/current/today.html) (04/03/03) P. 20

The Japanese government recently signed off on funding to support the Philippines Follow-Up Measles Elimination Campaign, the second phase of a program originally launched in 1998 by the Department of Health.  The month-long first phase of the Philippines Measles Elimination Campaign targeted children between the ages of nine months and 15 years in age. Measles is once again on the rise in the Philippines, increasing from 3,000 cases in 1999 to over 7,000 in 2000.  The grant from Japan will provide over 28 million doses of vaccine and disposable syringes for a nationwide campaign targeting an estimated 21.32 million children between the ages of nine months and eight years old starting in February 2004.
