LEAD PARAGRAPH - If doctors followed all the government recommendations aimed at preventing disease and injury, they would spend more than seven hours a day on those standards and have almost no time left for actual treatment, researchers have calculated.

Writing in The American Journal of Public Health this month, the researchers say the issue will become more important as more screening tests are developed.
