Added 7/19/01

VAERS ID 162588    A 39 year-old man received the PPV and TTOX vaccines on 7/9/96.  Here is what the text says:  “January through February of 1997, in jail.  He almost died from adverse reactions to medication given to him by doctors.  He was falsely arrested for not completing program/he was injured and no one would help him. I seen when they overdosed h” and that’s it, other than that he had allergies to ampicillin/penicillin.  The adverse event, whatever it was, started 84 days later, according to the report, on 10/1/96.  He died, I don’t know when or why.  (California)

Added 7/13/01

VAERS ID 118553/94790    An infant received the DTPH and OPV vaccines on 1/5/96.  6 days later her symptoms began - she experienced encephalopathy, convulsions, mental retardation and died around 11 months later.  (South Carolina)

Added 6/30/01

VAERS ID 125620/82176    A 63 year-old man received the FLU, MEN, OPV and YF vaccines on 1/25/96.  7 days post vaccination (2/1/96) he was hospitalized with a fever of 103, that it went up to 104, then down to 100.7.  He developed jaundice and an unspecified abscess, acute brain syndrome, kidney failure, respiratory distress, thrombocytopenia and hepatitis.  The next blood tests indicated elevated enzymes.  He died 3/22/96.  There was no autopsy. Added 6/21/01

VAERS ID 130534    An infant received the DTP, HIBV, OPV and HepB vaccines on 10/11/96.  The next day he experienced an unspecified condition and died.  (Mississippi)

Added 6/16/01

VAERS ID 109026    An infant received the DTPH and OPV vaccines on 2/29/96.  It does not say when he died of SIDS.  (New Hampshire)

Added 6/7/01 

VAERS ID 115534  An infant received the DTP, OPV and HepB vaccines on 11/5/96.  Says subsequently she experienced uncontrollable crying 2 hours at a time for two weeks.  Given Tylenol.  Then the infant died.  Don't know when the crying started for sure or when she died (says onset of symptoms on 11/27/96 - but may indicate the death rather than the crying).  (New Jersey)
